Web Standards in Design

Web Standards In Today's Designs

Why Web Standards in Design?

Are you a first time visitor, and new to this site? Getting started with web standards is where to start!

Web Design Standards. They don't have to be boring, and they should be easily monetized as well. Now, I know that there is a faction of the web standards camp that believes web accessibility / usability / valid (X)HTML markup should be adhered to - no matter what. That if your XHTML marked-up site stumbles on any points, that you are part of the problem, and not the standards compliant solution.

Standard Reality Check

Re-design 2008 Logo

I'm one who lives in the real world. I mean, come on. I truly believe that our web standards - yes - our web standards, are needed and called for. That we definitely need to put them into practice. But at what cost; the end user? Heck no! People, real people, people with some sort of motor skill disability, or site impairment - they are just as deserving to surf the net as non-disabled people. A site that is incorporates valid, semantic HTML is going to allow all people to surf accessibly.

Here's my point however...Validation for the sake of validation is not necessary. Validation for the sake of placing a W3C logo on your site will not do much if your target is geared towards selling you latest eBook on keyword targeting, but your site happens to use WordPress (hereby referred to as WP) as a CMS (Content Management System), for which you have installed 35 of the best WP plugins ever. See, allot of the WP plugins in use will not validate clean. So what to do? Give up their use, even though it does not interrupt the user experience, just because you want to keep your W3C logo?

People First, Validation Second

This site has implemented tons of semantically correct PHP markup, accessibility options, and even SEO techniques that will allow for WAI (Web Accessibly Initiative) validations. But if you validate this entire site, and happen across the WP blog installed here, guess what? That part of the site will not validate due to a few social networking plugins that I've installed. Does that hinder user accessibility? No way! So validation for it's own sake is not what is realistic. But monetizing your website efforts is. And there is nothing unethical in doing so with your Search Engine Optimisation.

You must also take into consideration the SEO benefits of website hosting as a form of marketing. Instead of using a free hosting platform, I would recommend that you purchase a hosting account.

Site Updates!

Google Stinks - Taking Google PR is like taking a diet pill - they leave you feeling unsatisfied!

Plain Old Stuff - Two new sites have been launched within the niche of Semantics and Validations. They are: Semantic HTML and Plain Old Semantic HTML. These two sites are very new, and highly ranking in Google, Yahoo, and MSN already! Last check I made, they were #1, #3, #4!

Web Site Hosting and Advertising - Now available for the first time, web hosting and web site advertising are ready to be implemented on your site. Web hosting, web site advertising will line up all the user-data research, marketing trends, the KEI on your selected keywords (making sure they are the highest possible values), and your Google AdSense/Yahoo Publisher ad configurations. They will also correctly establish and theme your current or new web site advertising plan. Hum...not so sure? More on the Web Site Hosting and Advertising site.

SEO and Accessibility - There is much talk today about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and how to land higher in a SE's (Search Engine) SERPS (Search Engine Results Position). But little is talked about how properly used "White Hat" SEO techniques will inadvertently assist in website accessibility. Most times it's very true, that marketing a websites and accessifying a website will butt heads. Accessibility states that content is king, and end-user usability/accessibility must prevail before any marketing hype - and especially any "black hat" usage. SEO has stated in the past that alls fair in love and SERPS! Accessibility was not considered, sometimes not even a option... More on the web articles page.

Mainstream Web Accessibility: A Worthy Web Standards Pursuit

Notable Universal Design Award

The Accessites.org's aim is to showcase and provide awards-recognition for certain websites - and the developers and designers who make them - which shatter the misconception that accessible web sites are boring and basic. It's not so and they intend to prove it, or rather, they'll ask others to furnish the evidence for them. I've won their Notable Universal Design Award  New Window for standards implementation, Web Accessibility, and more, all for this site!
